A Moment for MDS – Mennonite Disaster Service

Mennonite Disaster Service recruits, organizes and empowers volunteers to repair and rebuild the homes of those impacted by disasters in the United States and Canada. As we respond with Christian love to serve people who would not otherwise have the means to recover, our goal is to restore hope and bring people home.
 
Hurricane Fiona struck Nova Scotia, and other parts of Atlantic Canada, on September 24, 2022. Winds of 140 kilometres per hour battered parts of the province, blowing down trees and damaging roofs and siding on houses.
 
MDS volunteers will begin their response in Glace Bay and other parts of Nova Scotia in late March. Volunteers will be doing various stages of repair on different houses. There will be some gutting, roofing, framing, insulation, and basement work.
 
We may be too old to gut and rebuild houses, but we can give money to assist with this work. You can give by cheque at church – put “MDS” on the cheque. Or you can give on-line. https://mds.org/
