True evangelical faith, cannot lie dormant, it clothes the naked, it feeds the hungry, it comforts the sorrowful, it shelters the destitute, it serves those that harm it, it binds up that which is wounded, it has become all things to all creatures. – Menno Simons, 1539
“When we Christians behave badly, or fail to behave well, we are making Christianity unbelievable to the outside world.”
“Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive.” “If they are wrong they need your prayers all the more; and if they are your enemies, then you are under orders to pray for them. That is one of the rules common to the whole house.” “My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?” “And out of that hopeless attempt has come nearly all that we call human history—money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery—the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Hello friends and members of the Canadian Bible Society!
Re: Seniors' and Long-Term Care Homes contacted about the free MegaVoice audio devices Hi! We keep contacting Seniors' and Long Term Care Homes to offer free devices which contain Scriptures and hymns. [We want to] provide the MegaVoice audio device to those who dearly miss their churches or the Christian message that may have comforted and guided them for a life-time. Having lost their independence or mobility they have often also lost touch with 'the world' so to speak. These devices can bring our people and God's Word together again with the help of the staff at their institution/home.
If you can know of anyone who might appreciate this, please contact the CBS branch president Martin Wehrmann at maw49@hotmail.com . Thank you. ![]() The Niagara Movement for Justice and Peace in Palestine-Israel has received a new shipment of olive oil from Palestine. It is $20 for the 750 ml bottle.
